Hour Eighteen and Nineteen Update

So as expected I fell asleep from hour 11 through to hour 17. So I missed out those hours.

For hours 18 and 19 I read 75 Pages of Dead Man’s Chest and completed it. I read 44 pages of The Green Mile. There are still 5 hours left and I’m hoping to finish The Green Mile and possible start another book.

I won’t be updating until hour 24 because I’m not going to have Internet.

See you all on hour 24.

Hour Nine and Ten Update

Hey Guys, can you believe it? We are at hour 11 of the readathon. I did slightly better in these two hours and read 41 pages of The Green Mile and I also read 83 pages of Pirate of the Caribbean – Dead man’s chest – book of the film.

It’s currently 11pm here and I’m not sure how much reading will get done because whenever I do these readathons I end up falling asleep during the night hours but we shall see.

Hope everyone is having a blast and I’ll see you soon for another update.

Dewey’s 24 hour read athon – Hours one and two Update

So my first two hours haven’t been productive on the reading side. I was out for coffee and went food shopping however I plan to read read read from now.

I have read a total of 16 pages in the last two hours but it’s okay because I have so much time to catch up.

That’s all. Stay tuned for another update.

Dewey’s 24 Hour Readathon TBR

Hey Guys, so Dewey’s 24 Hour Readathon is close approaching and I am very excited! I love participating in these and trying to challenge myself to read more and for longer. I have come up with a TBR list but these aren’t definite because I always end up changing my mind. I have quite a few books on the list and I know for a fact I wont read them all but that is the beauty of the lists because I can read what suits my mood at the time. So on to the books.

The Green Mile

My first pick is The Green Mile by Stephen King. I have wanted to read this for ages so this is a great opportunity to read as much of this as I can during the time. This book has a total of 464 Pages.

The Gunslinger (The Dark Tower, #1)

Next we have The Gunslinger by Stephen King. I really want to read this series and especially with the film that is being made. This book has 304 pages.

A Face Like Glass

Next we have A Face Like Glass by Frances Hardinge. I have had this for a while and I must admit it was a totally cover buy. It gave me Alice in Wonderland vibes, I also have read The Lie Tree by this author which I really enjoyed so I hope I love this just as much. This book has a total of 490 pages.

Bellamy and The Brute

My next pick is Bellamy and the Brute by Alicia Michaels. I have an obsession with Beauty and the Beast and I love retellings so I hope I enjoy this one. This book has 344 Pages.

Celtic Mythology: A Concise Guide to the Gods, Sagas and Beliefs

I decided to pick a few of these Hourly History books. They are super short so will be good for splitting up reads. This one is about Celtic Mythology. This book has 54 Pages.

Queen Victoria: A Life From Beginning to End

Next we have another hourly History all about Queen Victoria. I love anything to do with Queen Victoria so I think I will fly through this. This book has 54 pages.

Aztecs: A History From Beginning to End

Hourly History choice number three is all about the Aztecs. This is a super short read, that I will finish in one go. This book has 39 pages.

Greek Mythology: A Concise Guide to Ancient Gods, Heroes, Beliefs and Myths of Greek Mythology (Greek Mythology - Norse Mythology - Egyptian Mythology Book 1) by [History, Hourly]

My last hourly history choice is Greek Mythology. I love anything about Greek mythology so this is an excellent one for me. This book has 53 pages.

So there you have it, my TBR for Dewey’s 24 hour readathon. When the readathon starts I will be posting hourly updates so stay tuned for that.

Reading Slump

Image result for old books

Hey Guys, Sorry I haven’t posted in a while. I have been having a hard time with my reading the last couple of weeks and haven’t really felt like coming on and posting anything. The reason I’ve been struggling with my reading is because I am in a massive reading slump. It has been awful, I have tried starting various books but only get maybe 30 pages in before I put it down because I just don’t feel like reading it. It is currently the 24th of April and I have only read five books which to me isn’t that great.

I do think though that I am coming out of my slump, I have been reading Little Women by Louisa May Alcott. It is my first time reading this story and I am really enjoying it so far. I hope to finish it tonight. I was supposed to finish it last night but got distracted with colouring and then I fell asleep.

I am planning on taking part in a couple of readathon on the next week. The first being Dewey’s 24 hour readathon. Dewey’s is a 24 hour read a thon that takes place twice a year and I have participated in the last few. I love this readathon because it pushes me to challenge myself. Dewey’s is taking place on Saturday 29th April 2017. The good thing about this readathon is that no matter where you live everyone starts reading at the same time and I have the luck of starting at 1pm GMT. I love that it starts later so I don’t have to get up early haha. I will be doing a TBR post for this later in the week and then on the day of the readathon I will be giving hourly updates except when I fall asleep of course, which always happens for me.

The next readathon I will be participating in is Bout of Books 19. This is a week long readathon that takes place from Monday 8th May – Sunday 14th May 2017. It begins at midnight in your own time zone. You can expect a sign up post and TBR in the next week and I will also be doing daily updates and then a wrap up.

Stay tuned for more posts!

What is your most inexpensive book? What is your most expensive book?

So my most inexpensive book is Forbidden Sister by V.C Andrews which I picked up in a library sale for 30p. My library has books on sale all the time whether it be books that were donated or books that have been withdrawn from stock. The books are 30p a book or 5 for £1 so I take advantage of this a lot more than I should. For my most expensive book I chose this Harry Potter boxset which cost me £50. I already have a set of original Harry Potter books but when I got the chance to buy these I couldn’t resist. Most of my single books that were more expensive than some in my collection I was given as gifts from family members.

What author do you have a love/hate relationship with?

This is a hard question for me to answer because I am sitting here trying to think of an author I have a love/hate relationship with but I am coming up blank at the moment. If I come up with an answer in due course I will update this answer.

What book have you devoured over and over with no shame?

So this was an extremely easy question for me to answer. I have loved the Harry Potter series for as long as I can remember and I have read these books from start to finish so many times I can’t even count them. I usually read them at least twice a year or more if I feel like it. My family always jokes with me when they see me reading it again because they always say I have read it so many times I know ever word. There is just something about this series that I never get tired of reading, it simply magical.

What book have you neglected reading due to laziness?

So the story behind this one. I have only read book one so far which I loved, I totally fell in love with the story and the characters so one I finished reading the first book I went out and bought the whole series. That was almost two years ago and I still haven’t gotten around to reading the rest of the series. I am however planning a re read of book one and then I hope to read this series right the way through by the end of the year.

What book do you talk about in order to sound like an intelligent reader?

I don’t do this. I think it shouldn’t matter what you read and that people shouldn’t think less off you if you read a certain genre different from other people. I think everyone should be proud with what they read and not worry about what other people think.

What attributes do you find attractive in male or female characters?

Lets just say Leigh Bardugo can write a strong lead male that I can’t help but fall in love with. The Darkling from the Grisha trilogy. Don’t ask me why I just adore him! The beauty of a man that is Kaz Brekker from Six of Crows. I mean he is just it, I wont even go into it.

What book would you like to receive as a gift?

This was so hard to pick the ones I would most like to receive as a gift. I have read Six of Crows already but have still to read Crooked Kingdom (Awful I know) plus look at how beautiful the books are. Strange the Dreamer by Laini Taylor has been popping up every where and I have fallen in love with the stunning cover and I hope to get it soon. Any of the fairy tales that have been illustrated by Camille Rose Garcia. The illustrations are so quirky but beautiful in every way.
Well there you have it guys. I hope you enjoyed the answers to the tag! I had a lot of fun answering the questions and I hope you enjoyed reading.

Broken Glass by V.C Andrews Review

Broken Glass (The Mirror Sisters, #2)

Title – Broken Glass

Author – V.C Andrews

Publisher / Published – Gallery Books / February 2017

Genre – Fiction, Young Adult, Thriller

Pages – 432

Series – The Mirror Sisters – Book Two

Summary From Goodreads

Haylee and Kaylee Fitzgerald are twin sisters who have been forced to be identical in every way by their domineering mother. She insists they wear the same clothes, eat the same food, get the same grades, and have all the same friends.

But both are growing weary of her obsession with their similarities, so when they finally attend high school, they find little ways to highlight their independence. The transition isn’t as easy as expected, however, and soon both sisters are thrust into a world that their mother never prepared them for—a world with far more dangerous consequences than just upsetting Mother.

My Thoughts

5 out of 5 Stars

Well after the events of book one I knew I just had to get my hands on book two. So I reserved it at the library as soon as they ordered it and I managed to check it out on the 31st of March 2017. I was nervous to read book two after what happened in book one. I was considering waiting on reading it but I am so glad I read it as soon as I got it. I managed to read this book over two days but could have quite happily read it in one sitting.

As I write this review I will do my best not to reveal any spoilers for this book and book one. So I loved the story and the plot, it was heart wrenching at times and there were times I got really angry with one of the characters and wanted to fling the book away. But over all it was a gripping story that I couldn’t put down and when I did put it down all I could think about was what would happen next. I really didn’t like the twins mother but I did feel sorry for her a bit in this book with what she had to go through. I don’t agree with some of the things she did and the way she treated the girls but I still empathised with her in this story.

Now on to the twins. First Haylee. Hmm well lets just say I absolutely despise her. She is a manipulative liar and there was so many times through out the book where I was blind sided by her evilness and they way she could manipulate the situation to her advantage. I seriously wanted to slap some sense into her at times I mean How could she do that to her sister!! I will leave it there about Haylee because I could rant all day about her.

Now on to Kaylee, she is by far my favourite character. I loved her and felt connected to her the whole way through the book. I was rooting for her and every time she tried things I can’t say what though. I felt sad when she did and when she felt hope I felt it too. She was so easy to feel connected too and I found her kindness at the end amazing. Again not going into detail.

Overall this was a fast paced read, that I devoured and I cannot wait for book three to come out.
